Jelly Bean Challenge
This game is great for all ages
This is my “social-distancing” version of a flannel board game. The kids can call out a number instead of touching the board.
Jelly Bean Challenge is my version of the game called “Bean Boozled”. It is a fan favorite of the kids I work with. It is silly, and a bit gross, which most kids love!
Game construction
You can easily find free jelly beans in clipart form. You can even easily draw them as they are a simple bean shape. Print out 18-20 beans of varying colors. 4-5 inch beans works well for this game. You can add numbers if you need the “social-distancing” version, or do without numbers if you don’t have to worry about restrictions. Print out different flavors on sticker paper, and cut out the shapes to stick to the back of the game pieces. Laminate the pieces and add a small bit of self-adhesive velcro to the back. Stick the beans on the board color-side up, and you are good to go!
Gameplay
Social distancing version: The child who answers the review question correctly calls out a number. The teacher turns the bean over to reveal the flavor. Will it be a good flavor, or a bad one? I find a points system isn’t necessary with this game, as the kids have tons of fun just seeing what flavors the jelly beans are.
