face race

Face Race was a huge hit with my kids!  They began giggling as soon as I unveiled it at the beginning of class, reminding them to listen carefully so they would know the answers to the review game at the end.

This game is also played by two teams.  The object of the game is to fill the blank face template (potato head face) completely.  The first team to complete their face wins!

Gameplay

The child who answers the review question correctly come up to play for their team.  (I usually divide them boys vs girls, but that doesn't always work.  Especially when there are 10 girls, but only 2 boys.  Divide the teams evenly and assign each team an idividual face template.

The child can pick any one face component they wish and put it on the face in the correct position.

The face base must contain:

  • 1-Hair

  • 1-Mouth

  • 1-Eyes

  • 1-Nose

  • 1-Set of Ears

  • 1-Hat

  • 1-"Extra" (Optional)

The first team to complete the face wins...but I like to add a GAME TWIST!

GAME TWIST

If you desire, you can add a twist to the game.  (My kids LOVED the twist!)

Each team can either put one of their face pieces onto their specific face template...OR...they can replace one of the opposing teams existing pieces with a different piece.  Eg. They can take off the opposing teams hair piece (if it is already up) with another hair piece i.e.  putting hair curlers in place of "Elvis" hair.

I had to put a limit to the number of times they could switch the other teams pieces.  The game would have lasted all day long without a limit.  I decided on a 3 switch limit per team.
